Earlier Signs Of Prostate Cancer
Earlier signs of prostate cancer can be identified if you are well aware of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is a tumor located on the prostate gland. It is also known as adenocarcinoma. The fact that it is the second leading cause of deaths related to cancer in men makes it clear that it is a very common health issue for men. As signs are not visible for many years it is very difficult to identify the earlier signs of prostate cancer. However, the environmental issues, your dietary habits and family history can give you a very good indication of the level of risk that you are at for prostate cancer. The earlier signs of prostate cancer are most visible in men of age 55 or more. While smoking and alcohol consumption are the most common factors other than ageing some other factors include high saturated fat diet, exposure to heavy metals, sedentary lifestyle and even race. How to Spot the Earlier Signs of Prostate Cancer Prostate cancer is identified in most people who are diagnosed with prostate cancer by prostate examination. Usually there are no signs associated to prostate cancer. The signs of prostate cancer only show up when the cancer has spread out of the prostate gland. Very rarely earlier signs of prostate cancer do occur. Frequent urination, mostly at night and difficulty in urination, difficulty in starting and holding back urination, painful urination or ejaculation, blood in semen or urine, interrupted or weak flow of urine are the earlier signs of prostate cancer. Frequent stiffness and pain in the lower back, pelvis, upper thighs and hips may also be encountered. Occurrence of these earlier signs of prostate cancer does indicate a non cancerous condition. Consulting a doctor and taking proper prostate examination thus becomes imperative. Prostate Exams to Identify Earlier Signs of Prostate Cancer Prostate Specific Antigen (PSE) and Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) are the two ways in modern medical science by which the prostate cancer can be detected earlier. The DRE is preceded by a simple test performed by the doctor in which the doctor inserts a finger in the rectum of the patient to check for any lump or bump as the prostate gland is situated right in front of the rectum. Then if the doctor suspects the presence of anything further tests are conducted to find out if the lumps or bumps are cancerous or not. Testing amounts of prostate specific antigen in the patient's blood can also be a good indicator in detecting earlier signs of prostate cancer. When a man reaches the age of fifty it is highly recommended by the experts to take yearlier exam of DRE as well as PSA. But if you come in the category of males with high risk of prostate cancer it is even better to get the yearlier checkups after the age of 40.
